Elephants

「大象永遠不會忘記(An elephant never forgets)。」這句美國成語，把源自希臘俗諺的「永不忘記傷害的駱駝(The camel never forgets an injury)」替換成大象，因為大象的記憶力比駱駝更為驚人。
嘖嘖! 外表溫馴的大象可是會記仇的呢 ^^

備註:
研究大象的動物學家，都強調大象記憶絕佳。一頭馴化的工作象，可以記得至少四十個來自象夫的指令；牠同時能辨認許多人、動物，以及生活的點點滴滴，即使平均壽命達五、六十年，一輩子也不會忘記牠曾經遭受過的恩惠與傷害。而大象之所以有別於其他動物，就是因為牠們的腦子會在有生之年繼續發展，腦容量通常可以增加百分之六十五。

許多曾經傷害過大象的人都追悔莫及：記憶力極強的它們總會找出機會進行報復，不是趁你割膠時把你踩死，便是故意把你家的糧倉禍害一空，甚至拱倒你家的房子……據說彼此間結下的仇，甚至會隔代相傳。至于身邊帶著幼象的母象，你可千萬別招惹著她。母愛十足的她，會把附近的每一個人，當做覬覦她小寶寶的“假想敵”﹔她會以與她笨拙身材根本不相稱的速度，猛扑下來，摧毀一切。

到底大象的智商有多高？在野生動物里排老二，僅次于大猩猩、位列海豚之前，相當于一個四五歲的孩子。
